Vicky Ramakka has been interested in plants and animals since exploring the woods and fields on her parents’ dairy farm in upstate New York as a child. After a career in academia, she is now settled with her husband in northwest New Mexico. She enjoys the freedom to write creatively and has published articles in local, regional and national magazines. Her articles have won New Mexico Press Women’s awards for personality profiles and for feature magazine stories. She is in process of publishing a murder mystery novel about a botanist heroine, hired by the Bureau of Land Management to study endangered plants.
