Guatemala is a biodiverse country. As happens in so many places, their biodiversity is threatened by pollution, resource extraction and pressures from other human activities. This film is in the Maya Kaqchikel language with Spanish and English subtitles. The filmmaker, Julian Fabricio Balux Zarat, worked with Unlocking Silent Histories to create this film in hopes of empowering people to become better stewards of the environment.
This is the second film Voices for Biodiversity has published in a collaboration with Unlocking Silent Histories, a nonprofit organization empowering indigenous youth to share their ideas, perspectives and interests through film.
