Courtney comes from an interdisciplinary background in wildlife management and human geography and has worked in Africa, Oceania and North America on a range of topics including human-wildlife conflict, landscape ecology and illegal wildlife trade.  Courtney holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MS in Wildlife Management from the University of Otago, where she traveled to rural Ethiopia to identify perceptions of farmer-primate conflict and assess management options. Following two years in a Wildlife Ecology PhD program, Courtney left to pursue her passions in environmental journalism, international development and community-based conservation. In her free time, she is a competitive runner, artist and outdoor sports enthusiast.
