Nature Writer

James holds an MSci in natural sciences from University College London, having specialized in neuroscience and organic chemistry. To pursue his passion for the environment, he went on to gain an MSc in sustainable development from the University of Exeter, where he became particularly interested in the challenges facing the global food system; this led him to explore the effectiveness of a novel intervention for reducing meat consumption for his dissertation. In recent years, James has worked across both consultancy and in-house roles, helping start-ups, SMEs and corporations measure, evaluate and improve their environmental and social impact. Now based in East Sussex, he is the founder of Elder Environmental, a consultancy helping make sustainability support accessible to smaller businesses. As a volunteer for Voices for Biodiversity, James co-produces our newsletter and writes articles on wildlife and conservation issues.
