Jean Marie Twambaze was born and raised in Rwanda’s Northern Province (home of the endangered mountain gorilla). With a background in hospitality, he has worked with several safari lodges in Rwanda as a service supervisor, meeting people of different cultures and learning more about handling international travelers, but safari guiding and wildlife photography have always been his passions.
Through guiding and interpretation courses, and five years of experience handling numerous short and long safaris in Rwanda and Uganda, Twambaze has gained valuable knowledge and a deep understanding of tourism in East Africa. He is a certified professional safari driver/guide and a self-taught nature photographer. He enjoys taking tourists on gorilla-trekking, game-viewing, bird-watching, hiking and photographic safaris. Above all, he loves spending time in the wilderness.
