Joe Cutler is a scientist, explorer, writer, and storyteller. He is a National Geographic Young Explorer, and a doctoral candidate at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He studies Central African freshwater fishes, freshwater ecology and conservation. His field research has taken him into some of the most underexplored parts of Central Africa, where he collects fishes and invertebrates that are new to science.
