Kevin McCarthy

Writer

Despite scoring in the 99th percentile in English on a high school aptitude exam, Kevin Patrick McCarthy studied geology in college in order to spend more time outdoors. Pursuing a strong interest in alternative energy, he worked as a geothermal geologist in Idaho, Oregon, and Colorado – and produced some pioneering reports in the process. After the Reagan Administration axed alternative energy development funding, he shifted to technical writing. At this time he also began writing creatively, primarily for The Bloomsbury Review, and eventually founded a writer's critique service, which he ran for six years. Later, he founded two environmental organizations, and served as first president of each. He's a dramatist, poet, essayist, and fourth-generation Coloradan.
