Researcher/Writer

Growing up surrounded by the forests, agricultural landscapes and rocky hills of the Santhal Pargana region of India inspired Kulesh’s long-term interest in documenting wildlife and biodiversity in the area. He earned a BSc in zoology from S.P. College and is now working on his MSc in zoology at Godda College, Sido Kanhu Murmu University. His research focuses on wildlife ecology in the granite inselberg landscapes of eastern India, with a broader focus on ecological changes, species, and conservation questions that remain poorly studied.

Kulesh is the founder of the Biodiversity Atlas of Santhal Pargana, a citizen-science initiative bringing together biodiversity observations from 700+ observers across Jharkand. He is also a member of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (IUCN-CEM).
