Natalia Ocampo-Peñuela recently obtained her PhD in Conservation Biology from Duke University. A Colombian native, Natalia has spent over 12 years studying and enjoying birds in her native country. It helps that she was born in the country with the most bird species in the world! Her research focuses on using spatial models and bird distributions to understand biodiversity and improve conservation actions in the world's most diverse places. During her PhD research, Natalia spent six months studying birds on Andean mountains. She has also lived on oceanic islands studying seabirds, and travels often in search for, well, birds!
