Saule Paltanaviciute grew up in a family of biologists, surrounded by nature in her home country of Lithuania. This naturally led to earning her bachelor’s degree in biology and her master’s degree in environmental studies and management. After her studies, Saule helped protect loggerhead sea turtles in Greece, where she recognized the power of environmental education to make a real difference. As an assistant research officer in Costa Rica, she saw the fragile state of nature firsthand — and became increasingly determined to do something to protect it.
Saule hopes that her writing and photography will encourage people to understand, care for and appreciate the natural world more fully.
