Vanina Harel is a National Geographic Young Explorer and filmmaker who is passionate about making media that matters. With a background in biology and a MFA in environmental documentary production from American University, she has produced films and social media awareness campaigns on topics including rhino conservation, sustainable farming, ocean conservation, and sustainable fisheries. She recently completed Vey nou Lagon, an award-winning documentary film that is touring in schools and villages in Mauritius as part of a national awareness campaign for lagoon conservation. Based in Washington D.C., she is currently working at National Geographic as part of their digital video team.
