Dancing with Horses

Show location map

The beauty of horses, the grace in their steps, help connect people to something wild, something free inside themselves. In 1997, The Equus Project was created to illustrate this connection. Choreographer JoAnna Mendl Shaw helped develop a brand-new, artistic collaboration between dancers and horses. A three-month project with the Mount Holyoke College Dance Department and Equestrian Program resulted in several performances that melded natural horsemanship and elaborate choreography.

The Equus Projects connects horses with dancers to create truly unique experiences. The majestic animals paired with graceful performers and riders provide an inspiring visualization and can be seen across the country in touring performances. Locations include Colorado, Connecticut, New York and Texas. For a peek into this graceful world, check out this beautiful short film, brought to you by The Equus Projects.
